What is the message of the poem?
Explain the symbolism in poem. What message is Yeats trying to send to his readers through these images?
The main purpose of this class is to help you learn how to think critically and analytically. Most of us do not like to think and we look for the easy way out. Remember, no one gets paid to copy someone or something. This class will challenge your thinking and creativity. Your creativity will be pushed outside its habitual thinking box and into the world of inspiration, potential and originality!
I guess im gonna be first...
ReplyDeleteWell i actually dont know what its trying to say or what symbolism it has and i dont know what to search for on google for help...
Have you tried googling "Meaning of the poem 'Dialogue of Self and Soul'?
DeleteIt's interesting, but something that i'll have to look over a few more times to truly analyze it.
ReplyDeleteTo me the message is that your self is what takes the all the things that life throws at you but your soul is the one who can fix the bad thoughts that come to you and can distinguish darkness from you self and take it away.
ReplyDeleteI don't understand the first stanza at all. It's very confusing. Yeats uses the second stanza to imply that we all suffer from many indignities and that no matter how miserable our life has been, we must follow it to its source, "measure the lot", and forgive ourselves for it, and then only will we become blest.
ReplyDeleteI am still confused on what the first stanza is trying to tell us. What I got out of the second stanza is that talks about growing up and how men are blind to truth.
