Class,
A mission statement is like a personal credo or motto that states what your life is about. We want to come up with a Mission Statement for 2nd Block. On this post, add some ideas, thoughts, motto, beliefs, etc that represent what 2nd block is about. These posts will eventually be used for a class mission statement. Use the discovery map to get some ideas. Have Fun!
I think our statement should involve the whole glacier idea of diving deep and reaching the surface. I think this because that picture makes us say 1,000+ words. Also Mr.G has been teaching us how to think/analyze, so our mission statement should include something dealing w/ that. Our mission statement should lastly relate to the glacier by being short, but not to the point. It should take some thinking to really understand it.

DeleteI'm into the idea of the glacier thing with diving deep because it's helping me a lot with writing. It has, also, been a constant reminder that i should not summarize, but analyze. If i float, i'm not able to see the beauty below the surface.
DeleteI agree that part of our mission statement should include the goal of thinking critically and analytically to understand deeper meanings of important concepts.
DeleteI definately agree with your glacier idea.
DeleteI agree with your idea about the poster and our motto should take some thinking to understand it.
DeleteI definitely would choose this motto for the class because that represents what we have been doing from the beginning til now.
DeleteI like this post!
DeleteI think our motto should include the start in second block, and how you could still use that motto later in life.
ReplyDeleteYeah I see where you are going with it. I think that sounds like a good idea.
DeleteYes, i agree, because then it would be worth remembering. Not that we would make a motto not worth remembering, but it would give more sentimental meaning?
DeleteI think our motto should be something to do with the poster of the glacier, because of how Soledad states. The poster is the back bone of the enire class. Also, something that has to do with a jogger, since Mr. G compares us to joggers.
ReplyDeleteSome things we should include:
ReplyDelete-We will think critically and analytically to understand deeper meanings to important concepts.
-We will be open to hearing the opinions of others.
-We will respect others' opinions, no matter how ridiculous.
-We will not hesitate to express our own opinions; we all have something important to say and can contribute to any given discussion.
-We will actually learn important skills in class and apply them in the future.
-We will treat Mr.G as a friend and equal pushing us to be better students, not a tyrannosaurus rex.
I like these ideas, specially about learning skills in class and applying them in the future because i know i have begun to apply things i've learned in second block to my own life.
DeleteBy the way, It's funny how you ended this.
Your ideas are great and I agree on them.
DeleteThou shalt not use vulgar language in discussions. ):
DeleteDang Jorelle, These ideas are just ADFOIHSJDFK!@)*$!@($!@U#SDF. Nuff Said.
DeleteTy-Rex?
DeleteSince every essay that i write ends up with a not that should be more analytical, I agree with both SOLEDAD and MONICA that our motto should relate to the poster of the iceberg. This relates to the whole class because he has to mention to the class to be more analytical and "to dive deeper"
ReplyDeleteWell, i unfortunately haven't thought of a motto, yet, but i believe second block is a WHOLE LOT OF THINKING. Most of us get lost sometimes, but we eventually begin to understand. Since, we think a lot or pretend we think a lot (just kidding) in second block, maybe we can incorporate thinking in our motto.
ReplyDeleteYeah i agree with the thinking a lot. Maybe we can also add that we don't want to think too little but also not over think because both may lead you to confusion.
DeleteHahaha we do pretend to think at times, so the motto should definitely be about thinking or pulling it off when we aren't hahaha.
DeleteOur motto should have something due with striving for higher rather then just focusing on a letter grade.
ReplyDeleteI think this is a good one!
DeleteCOOL!
DeleteOur motto should be something short and sweet that is open to many interpretations.
ReplyDeleteHow about "We walk in curious, walk out with wisdom."
Yes that should be our motto. I always feel wiser about some things that we talk about in class.
DeleteI agree with my classmates about the glacier and diving deep. Also I think including something about not being the typical class or teacher might be something to consider. We are not the normal English class. We actually have fun and are interested (at least I am) in the lessons and books Mr. G teaches. There is a lot of truth behind everything we have learned that can also relate to us and our surroundings.
ReplyDeleteI agree this class is unique and many of us do have fun w/ the lessons and books we are thought about, so the motto should state something dealing with this.
DeleteThanks Diana!
DeleteHow about if we make a motto that helps us believe in ourself, and that would put a smile on our face every time we say it.
ReplyDeleteOur motto should have to do with the glacier poster. It seems we go really deep and analyze things that many people just skip over. It might hurt our heads to think so much, but we do gain a lot more knowledge and understanding.
ReplyDeleteYou know what forget that glacier thing!(Just kidding we need that!) Uhh as a class we should have the motto: "Let experience take its way as we live in it." Honestly I like what the rest of you guys put and majority of the class would choose the "Dive Deep or go home!"
ReplyDeleteInteresting motto...I think I like it!
DeleteYou'r 1st motto kind of relates to "we're flying our plane as we build it" something like that, that Mr.G said...it is pretty good, I also like it.
